Obituary

ARMOND ROOSEVELT WATLINGTON, Jr. affectionately known as "Junior" was called to his eternal rest in Lithonia, GA on Saturday, November 23, 2019. Armond was born on November 28, 1957, in Brooklyn, New York. He was the third of five children born to Armond Roosevelt Watlington, Sr. and Geneva Bigelow Watlington.

Armond loved cars, riding his bicycle, baseball, and basketball. He coached Intramural Basketball while still a teenager.

Armond attended Elementary School at PS 1 4 7. He went on to attend Junior High School at 192 and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School at the young age of 16. All three schools are in Queens, NY. It was at Andrew Jackson High School where he met and fell in love with his wife to be, Felicia Cox.

After High School, Armond attended York College in Queens, NY; then transferred to SUNY College at New Paltz, NY to be close to his love, Felicia. He graduated from SUNY College at New Paltz with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. Upon graduation, Armond began his career working at MetLife, and throughout his life worked in the Insurance Industry receiving various awards in his professional service. Additional career work includes Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Sales.

On September 20, 1980, Armond wedded Felicia Cox and began a remarkable marriage that would last for 39 years. To this union, were born two sons, Brandon James Watlington and Jordan Kendell Watlington.

The Watlingtons relocated to Stone Mountain, GA in 1986 and began building roots in Georgia. In 1992, Armond became an active member at the Ray of Hope Christian Church. He embraced fatherhood by coaching his son's Redan Little League Baseball Team for six years. He also coached the basketball team at the Ray of Hope Christian Church for three years, lovingly referred to as "Coach." He was also a member of "l00 Black Men ."

Armond was an outgoing person who loved to laugh and joke. His son Brandon says, "Dad doesn't make friends, He makes family!" However, Armond was also serious minded and always about business. Outside of his beloved family, his passions were politics, sports, and music.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Felicia Cox Watlington; Son - Brandon James Watlington (Jacquelyn); Son - Jordan Kendell Watlington; Sister - Adrian Denise Watlington Cox (Philip); Sister - Rhonda Watlington Pole; Sister - Terry Watlington, Grandson - Jackson Wendell Watlington; Granddaughter - Jada Chloe Watlington and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his Sister - Yvonne Watlington Patterson (Boyd); and his Father - Armond Roosevelt Watlington, Sr. His mother, Geneva Bigelow Watlington recently ascended to Heaven's Gate on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, to join Armond in their final resting place in the presence of The Lord.

Armond is dearly loved and he will be greatly missed!
